Bushpig
Bushpigs can be distingueshed from
warthogs due to the absence of warts and their reddish colour. Bushpigs
run with their tail down while warthogs run with theirs vertically
up. The bushpigs are rarely seen due to their nocturnal behaviour
and preference for dense cover. They live in family units consisting
of a boar, his sow and their offspring; this sounder may number
up to twenty individuals.
Much like their relatives the warthogs
the bushpigs regularly wallow in mud to control parasites and to
regulate body temperture. Boars are very powerful and aggressive.
Piglets are born with a coat
of yellow stripes and spots wich disappear after a few months.
